An Easy DIY Easter Decoration

With Easter just around the corner, I thought I would share one of my favourite DIY Easter decorating ideas.

Whether you’re entertaining friends and family this Easter, or staying in for a quiet one, this easy to make Easter decoration is sure to get you into the spirit. It’s real simple to make and doesn’t cost much. In-fact you will probably find everything you need to make this decoration, at your local dollar shop; that’s where I bought all my items from. In Sydney, we have a chain of cheapo stores called The Reject Shop. They are the best for sourcing all sorts of items to help with creative ideas. But, if you don’t have access to any of these types of stores; or you do and they don’t sell what you need, your local craft store should have everything.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • A long strand of artificial ivy garland – the longer the better, and make sure it’s made with wire, as it’s easier to bend into desired shape.
  • Mini Easter Egg hanging decorations
  • A candle
  • Scissors

Once you have everything you need. You will need to start by cutting the ribbon attached to your Easter Egg decorations in half. This is so you can tie the eggs to your garland afterwards. Once you have tied on all the egg decorations, you can cut the ribbon to shorter lengths.

Now you’re ready to start winding the garland into whatever shape you like. I chose a wreath style shape, as it fits nicely around the candle. But, if you’re feeling creative, you can make a star or heart shaped design.

And that’s it – told you it was easy. Enjoy.
