Is This the Best Burger Restaurant in Sydney?

Betty’s Burgers and Concrete Co aren’t new to Sydney, but as their popularity grows, so do their chain of restaurants around Sydney.

For a while now, when visiting Darling Harbour I have walked back and forth past Betty’s Burgers and Concrete Co when attending seminars, media releases or markets and festivals in the ICC (International Convention Centre). Always packed and smelling great, but with me always in a rush and no time to stop in and try their burgers, I have wanted to try out this new burger restaurant joint for a long while now.

So, imagine my excitement when I was taking a stroll through my old neighbourhood of Castle Hill and discover one has opened up there YAY! Finally, when I have some time to spare, I can grab a burger for myself and see what all the fuss is about.

And what was the verdict. Absolutely delicious. I can see why so many people really love this new burger joint. Especially for those like myself who suffer from wheat allergies. Not a lot of burger places; out of the CBD area, create delicious gluten-free burgers. I ordered the grilled chicken and salad gluten-free bun burger with a side serving of delicious fries. I have no idea how they cooked the fries, but WOW, they were mouth watering and I regret not purchasing a second lot of fries hehe.

My only criticism; which has nothing to do with the food at all, is that the burgers aren’t really designed for take-away. Unless you’re still planning on sitting down somewhere with your burger. Although I had some time to finally try this restaurant out, I didn’t have enough time to sit down and dine. So, I did have to get take-away. And I found myself  sitting in the car eating before driving away. It definitely isn’t drive worthy. Which when you think about it, no food really is and it’s probably super unsafe to be eating whilst driving anyways. I’m glad I decided to check out the burger in the car, before driving off, or it could have been a real disaster, as the burger is oozing with delicious sauce & juice which dripped A LOT.

I am keen to take the fam there to enjoy a nice sit down meal.

The chicken was tender and the gluten-free bun was nice and fluffy. The restaurant also takes gluten allergies pretty seriously. When I ordered I was asked if it was a lifestyle choice, or if I had an allergy. When I stated it was an allergy, they clear the deck and prepare your burger away from other meals to ensure it’s completely away from any other gluten products. I’ve only ever witnessed that in top restaurants here in Australia; however this is common practice in most cafes and restaurants around Europe.

All in all, I was pretty impressed with Betty’s Burgers and Concrete Co, even tough I am not a certified food or restaurant critic, I give it five stars.

Oh and if your’e wondering about the Concrete part of their name, it refers to some pretty incredible ice-cream they create in-house. Unfortunately, due to dairy allergies, I couldn’t try the ice-cream. So, I am keen to go with friends or family, so they can try it and let me know what they think.
