Finding my zen at the Buddhist Nan Tien Temple of South Sydney.
It’s been a while since I’ve taken a trip to the NaN Tien Temple, so when my partner asked me what I wanted to do for my birthday, I knew the answer right away. I wanted to visit the temple to find my zen.
It’s been such a hectic year to say the least and as the months fly by and Christmas approaches, I’m finding myself with less time for myself and spending too much on everything and everyone else.
Normally I turn to yoga when I feel this way, but for some reason it just hasn’t been giving me what I need to help recover from all the current daily stress. It does help me ground myself back to the earth, but when I walk out of a relaxation session. I’m still flooded with all the stress which was bothering me before I walked into yoga.
Sure, it’s certainly helping me deal with the stress a lot better, but I’m still feeling the effects of not having the time for myself to really unwind, relax and recharge my own battery outside of a stressful and hectic routine, which doesn’t leave me much time to do any of that.
Spending a few hours enjoying the garden at the NaN Tien Temple gave me purpose and helped me to remember how important it is to really make time for yourself. Not just to take a road trip to get away, which isn’t always possible. But, to remember it only takes an hour or two every few days, of not doing anything or doing something you love, to help you destress and recharge.
If you need some time away for a few hours and live in Sydney, start with the NaN Tien Temple to help kick start your journey to feeling zen. It worked for me, and for my partner too. So no doubt it will work for you also.
