Sydney Christmas – What’s On and Where to Go

Five exciting Christmas things to see and do in Sydney for December.

Happy 1st December everyone. We can officially kick off the festive Christmas vibes, even though most shopping centres, shops and opther venues have already kicked us off with their decorations and Christmas Carols playing in the background.

For me, the 1st December is the day when the month seriously kicks into overdrive of festive activities and other great things to do in the city to help you celebrate the best Christmas ever.

So, I sourced five very festive activities around Sydney (some of which I too will be attending) for the month of December.

Christmas Infinity Rooms at Market City

Where: 9-13 Hay St, Haymarket NSW 2000, Australia

When: Every day from 10am to 7pm up until 24th December

These rooms have me super excited. They consist of three mind-blowing, multi-sensory and 100% Instagrammable spaces which will provide a festive experience that is truly out of this world. Make sure to take friends or a tripod at least, so you can take enough snaps.

Festive High Tea at the Shangri-La

Where: Shangri-La Hotel, 176 Cumberland Street, Sydney

When: Serving up until 5th January 2020, every day from 11am to 6pm. Bookings essentials, as the High Tea will be served in specific time slots.

Indulge in a festive high tea, featuring the deliciously Instagrammable inventions of executive pastry chef, Anna Polyviou. YUM. I am unsure if they have gluten-free or vegan options, you will need to ask when you book. Either way, high tea by the Christmas tree sipping champagne, sounds very festive.

Christmas Wreath Making Workshop

Where: Shop 1, 574 Botany Rd, Alexandria

When: See below – Bookings are essential

Saturday 30 November 2019 from 11am to 1pm
Saturday 7 December 2019 from 11am to 1pm
Sunday 8 December 2019 from 11am to 1pm
Saturday 14 December 2019 from 11am to 1pm
Sunday 15 December 2019 from 11am to 1pm
Sunday 8 December 2019 from 3pm to 5pm

Make a beautiful Christmas wreath and get into the festive spirit. Flowerlane & Co is hosting Christmas wreath-making workshops this December. You will be given all the materials to create a stunning natural wreath using fresh foliage, pine cones, berries, cinnamon sticks, dried fruits and other fun decorative stuffs. Exciting.

There will be chocolate and gluten-free house kits available. Or if you prefer to make a Christmas wreath instead, you will be able to choose from a large selection of native and festive flora. Or perhaps you want to do both, you can do that too. Great one for the kids, if you want to bring them along to decorate the Gingerbread House.

Christmas Candle Making

Where: The Grounds of Alexandria, 7a/2 Huntley Street, Alexandria

When: Saturday 16 November 2019 from 10am to 12pm and Sunday 8 December 2019 from 10am to 12pm – Bookings are a must.

Nothing is more festive then a candle, especially a Christmas themed one. You will get to make two candles too, so you can kepp one for yourself and give the other to a loved one. Or keep both, whatever tickles your fancy. All items required to make the candle, including delicious Christmas scents for the candles withh be provided as part of the package.

Free Christmas Events around Sydney:

Of course, there will be plenty of other free Christmas events happening all across Sydney. Like the Christmas themes Glebe and Rocks Markets, local carols (if heading to the Domain with thousands of people isn’t your thing). And of course, make sure to head to Martin Place to check out the fabulous Christmas tree, it’s a stunner.
