Where to Eat On Christmas Day

Six restaurants open on Christmas Day in Sydney, so you don’t have to cook a thing.

Yes, Christmas Day is generally when you gather up the troops (family and friends) and sit around a table eating either a smorgesboard of seafood, or for more traditional families a roast turkey with veggies, all polished off with a delicious Christmas pudding.

But some years, you just need to take a break from all of that and do something different with your loved ones, where you don’t need to do a thing and someone else can do all the preparation, cooking, serving and cleaning for you.

There are loads of restaurants trading on Christmas Day in Sydney, for just that reason. To help you celebrate the season better and take a break from it all.

These are my favourite six:

Manly Wines Beachfront Christmas Day Lunch $105pp

For a beachy Christmas Day view, book yourself at the this incredible Christmas Day feast, where they will be serving roast garlic polenta chips with gorgonzola dip, the chilled prawns, smoked salmon, crème fraiche and crisped bread, not to mention a marmalade glazed ham. For dessert, there’s blood orange pavlova with white chocolate mascarpone. Delicious.

Feast at The Sheraton Grand Sydney $355pp (cheaper for kids)

The Sheraton have been serving up an incredible luxury styled Christmas Day feast now for at least twenty years, with items on the menu like traditional roast turkey, honey glazed ham and bush marinated lamb. And for dessert dessert with mince pies, panettone, pudding, pavlova and crepes, all made at a live dessert station.

Kingsley’s Three-Course Christmas $177pp

This stunning three-course set menu starts with a shared hot and cold seafood platter, a choice of three mains including Black Angus Striploin, Tasmanian Ocean Trout and traditional Turkey. And of course, you’ll get to admire Sydney’s beautiful harbour as well. Make sure you leave room for dessert which will be Mango Bavarois and Brie de Meaux.

Glass Brasserie Christmas Day Lunch $ varied depending on booking

Let Luke Mangan cook for you on Christmas Day, with fancy four-course tasting menu, which includes caviar, oysters, a stunning cheese course, a pudding to take home and a visit from Santa. There is also a delicious menu for anyone who is vegan and gluten-free, so everyone is a winner on Christmas Day.

Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel Summery Season’s Greetings $149pp

Depending whether you want something casual, or something fancy, Watsons Bay Hotel will be catering for both with their delicious traditional Christmas menu of roasted meats and veggies, or seafood. Of copurse, I highly recommend the seafood menu for this option, as the food is absolutely amazing and Watsons Bay Hotel are known for there amazing seafood.

Silvester’s Christmas Lunch Buffet $ varied depending on booking

Silvester’s are tuning into their inner festive vibes this season by creating a magical Christmas wonderland, with a menu to match. There’s a complimentary glass of champagne, Turkey, ham, lobster, seafood, and a seafood grazing station. All displayed on separate tables, each chosen feast is literally all you can eat and a great spot for anyone looking to book a table of more than six or seven people.
